E-commerce for Plants
During a boot camp, I engaged in a 2-week project to design an interactive e-commerce prototype with a focus on a component-based design system. Being someone who values sustainability, I struggle with making informed online plant purchases due to the lack of transparency regarding their origin and environmental impact on various websites.

Problem
E-commerce platforms for plants face challenges related to information overload, unclear environmental impacts, limited pickup options, undisclosed sourcing, uncertainties in reproducibility, and insufficient sustainability information.
Solution
A specialized e-commerce platform that focuses on sustainability. This includes utilizing sustainable energy, promoting regional production and sales, and highlighting useful plants and herbs. It provides comprehensive information on plant origin and care, empowering users to make sustainable choices.

Sketches
These wireframe sketches provide an early insight into the initial user experience and app design concepts.
Wireframes
These visual blueprints capture the initial stages of shaping user interactions and interface components, providing a foundational understanding of the design direction.
Prototype
Prototype
Building upon my initial ideas and research, I developed a high-fidelity prototype that reflects the refined User Journey.
Design system
I created a design system because it forms the foundational framework for maintaining visual and functional consistency across the entire project.
Design Principles
I created 3 Principles that would guide me through the process
Sustainable
the plants | herb option should be sustainable
possibility to make the most sustainable decision for their Area.
Human
high standard of a11y, honesty and respect for the user.
Informative
provide the important information for the users.
Color overview
I selected a color palette comprising various shades of green, brown, and blue, establishing a visual connection to the natural world’s hues.
Typography
Balancing Playful Headlines with Classic Readability.
Iconography
I curated a diverse collection of icons tailored to the site’s context, adding personality and enhancing the user experience of the e-commerce platform.
Next Steps
The Next steps I will take to make a complete User experience are:
01
Additional time for user testing, it can significantly improve the overall quality and effectiveness of the design.
02
Create a curated selection of environmentally friendly plants that are native or adapted to the local climate, promoting biodiversity, water conservation, and reduced chemical usage.
03
Implementing a Community Function: Enable users to share tips, seek assistance.
04
Enhance gamification with plant-focused elements, encouraging users to learn about various plants, their care, and sustainable practices while earning rewards for active participation.
Learnings
I have gained valuable insights into the design process, significantly improving my ability to manage tasks effectively. This experience has facilitated my growth as a designer, enabling me to adeptly extract information from research and seamlessly apply it to design and user experiences. Additionally, I’ve recognized the pivotal role of a design system in maintaining consistency throughout the project, affirming its importance as an initial step.
